The defense of a 12-year-old student of special school No. 124 in Yekaterinburg, who was subjected to violence by other teenagers, turned to Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation, with a request to help release the child from the institution. The appeal to the children’s ombudsman was filed after the court refused to transfer the boy to another special institution, as requested by the administration of the Yekaterinburg special school, and also did not consider the issue of sending the child home, which the defense insisted on. “Thus, according to the court decision, the child must remain in the institution where he was bullied and where he is actually an outcast. We are convinced that the only right decision for the fate of the child is the early termination of the child’s stay in the SUVU, and we will achieve this,” said Ms. Bortnikova.
The lawyer said that she was counting on the support on this issue from Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Sverdlovsk Region and the Public Chamber of the region.
Scandal in special school No. 124 for teenagers with socially dangerous behavior happened in mid-April, when a 13-year-old student escaped from there. He appealed to the ICR, saying that the pupils are being physically and sexually abused by other teenagers.
The “toughest situation” that he saw himself happened to a 12-year-old boy, whose interests are now represented by Olesya Bortnikova. The teenager was allegedly subjected to a “comradely trial” for lying “too much” to the teacher. As a result, the decision was collectively made to subject the boy to “oral sexual abuse”.
Consequence aroused a criminal case on sexual abuse of a child (clause “b” part 4 of article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), indicting two students of a special school. teenagers now are under arrest. Also, according to Kommersant-Ural, a criminal case was initiated against the dismissed director of the special school, Natalya Poddubnaya. She is suspected of negligence (part 1 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
