The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation recognized the activities of the Norwegian organization Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF, the Human Rights House Foundation) as undesirable. About it informs department press office.
In addition, foreign NGOs affiliated with the organization, the so-called human rights houses, registered in Ukraine, Lithuania, Georgia and Armenia, were declared undesirable.
The Prosecutor General’s Office explained that the activities of the fund and NGOs are aimed at violating the territorial integrity of Russia, as well as destabilizing the internal situation, discrediting the policy pursued by the country’s leadership and forming the public’s opinion “on the need to change power in an unconstitutional way.”
The department noted that the fund declares its independence, but at the same time it is financed by the EU, as well as the foreign affairs agencies of Great Britain, Norway, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. The Prosecutor General’s Office called the NGO’s agenda provocative and noted that the organization’s actions are aimed at “political and economic isolation of Russia” in the world.
HRHF is an international organization headquartered in Oslo. The fund also has an office in Geneva and a representative office in Brussels and Tbilisi. The HRHF website states that the organization’s activities are aimed at protecting and realizing human rights, including the rights “to freedom of assembly, association, expression, and the right to be a defender of human rights.”
