Prosecutor General Krasnov warned of new attempts by Ukraine to stage terrorist attacks

Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said that it is impossible to rule out an increase in attempts by Ukraine to commit terrorist acts in Russia. He also said that in 2022, 127 terrorist attacks were registered in Russia, 13 of them involving minors.

“The priority task remains the suppression of the facts of involvement in extremist and other illegal activities of young people. This is really relevant, since out of 127 terrorist acts registered in 2022, 13 were committed with the participation of minors, ”said the Prosecutor General, speaking with a report at the Federation Council.

According to the prosecutor, since “an increase in attempts to commit terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime on the territory of our country cannot be ruled out,” it is necessary to strengthen preventive measures to protect critical facilities – at transport infrastructure facilities, polling stations, in places of mass stay of people, refugee accommodation.

As Igor Krasnov stated, in 2022 Russia faced “open interference in domestic politics.” At the same time, there was no surge in crime in 2022 – as the Prosecutor General said, the crime rate in Russia last year was the lowest in ten years.

Igor Krasnov said that this year his department plans to coordinate the efforts of law enforcement agencies in taking additional measures to combat cybercrime, especially in an organized form, as well as to combat drug trafficking and weapons from the war zone in Ukraine.

By data National Anti-Terrorism Committee, most terrorist crimes were committed in the border regions. How previously reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over the 11 months of last year, the number of crimes with the use of weapons and ammunition has increased – according to this indicator, the Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as Moscow, are leading.
