Producer Lavrov explained why Loboda wants to sing in Russian

Russian producer Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Channel 5 explained that Ukrainian show business stars cannot refuse to perform their songs in Russian, because otherwise no one will listen to them. According to him, they are all known exclusively for their old hits. As an example, Lavrov cited Vera Brezhneva and Svetlana Loboda, who recorded songs in Russian that made them famous.
The producer stressed that as long as Loboda was not “untwisted” on Russian television, no one knew her. In addition, he added that “the entire Ukrainian people” go to the singer’s concerts only because they have “Your Eyes” in Russian in their player.
According to Lavrov, no one will listen to songs in Ukrainian and the artists understand this. He noted that the song will be listened to in the language in which it was originally sung. The producer clarified that people love old songs and the artists go on tour with these songs. According to him, Sofia Rotaru goes on tour and everyone expects the composition “Lavender, mountain lavender” and nothing else from her.
