Private medical clinics in Crimea will stop performing abortions so as not to worsen the demographic situation, Republican Health Minister Konstantin Skorupsky told reporters.
According to him, this decision will help women make more informed and thoughtful decisions regarding maintaining or terminating a pregnancy.
“In state medical institutions, women are carefully informed about the current measures of social support for families with children. Patients are referred for psychological pre-abortion counseling to help them understand themselves and the reasons for their decision,” the minister noted.
He also recalled that in 2023, 1,037 pregnant women underwent pre-abortion medical and psychological counseling in Crimea, of whom 219 women, or 21%, decided to continue the pregnancy. Over the same period in 2022, 10.1% of women made this decision.
At the beginning of October, the Ministry of Health published order No. 459n approving the list of medicines for medical use that are subject to subject-quantitative accounting (PKU). The list includes the drugs mifepristone and misoprostol, used for medical abortion.
