Hundreds of Russian convicts, by decision of Moscow courts, will be transferred to serve their sentences closer to the place of residence of their relatives.
As MK learned, a large number of lawsuits from convicts with a request to change their place of serving their sentences were submitted to Moscow courts. Basically, such claims are filed in the Zamoskvoretsky Court of the capital, on whose territory the Federal Penitentiary Service is located.
The courts satisfied these claims. It is interesting that, on a voluntary basis, the Federal Penitentiary Service refuses to transfer prisoners to colonies located closer to the place of residence of their relatives, although this is provided for by law. As a result, prisoners are forced to turn to the courts.
Several court decisions on the transfer of convicts have been made in relation to those serving life imprisonment. Moreover, in a number of cases, those convicted indicate in their lawsuits that they have not seen their relatives for 10 years.
