Prince William and Kate Middleton: what lies behind the perfect images

Since Kate Middleton’s relationship with Prince William became public in 2004, they have lived a lifetime in the public eye. The British watched closely as William courted Kate for a long and beautiful time, and then proposed to her. When Prince William and Kate Middleton married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, the royal couple’s wedding was watched by 17.6 million fans around the world, and many thought their relationship was always perfect.

However, they broke up twice – once in 2004, and then again in 2007. Kate: used to be a child model

Kate Middleton is often cited as one of the most modern and businesslike members of the royal family thanks to her visionary approach to childcare and feminism. And this is not surprising – she worked at several jobs before she married a member of the royal family: she worked for a famous clothing and accessories brand as an advertising agent and planned to open a bakery with her brother.

And Kate’s very first job was completely unusual: it turns out that the duchess was once a child model. Claudia Joseph, author of Kate: The Making of a Princess, writes: “Kate modeled for clothing catalogs produced by her parents’ company. Over the years, all their children have played a huge role in this business, from posing for catalogs to developing new categories for the brand. And when several pictures of Kate as a child model were released, they quickly went viral.”

As a teenager, the future duchess was no different from ordinary girls. It is known that once she decorated the wall of her bedroom with a poster of a young model of a jeans brand. The wife of the heir to the throne is very simple and frank in communication – once, during a visit to Warsaw, a group of students told her that she was beautiful. To which Kate bluntly replied: “It’s just makeup.”

William: in the palace and on the water

Long before William met Kate Middleton, the young prince laid eyes on a very famous lady – top model Cindy Crawford. 14-year-old William confessed to his mother, Princess Diana, that he was in love with Crawford. And Diana invited the American model to Buckingham Palace, where William could meet and chat with her, and Crawford met members of the royal family, which was incredibly happy.

Few people know that Prince William was an RAF search and rescue pilot for seven and a half years, helping the seriously injured. In 2014, he even took on the role of an East Anglian air ambulance pilot.

But the most serious injury in his life, he received not there, but in an unexpected place: on a golf course. When William was only 9 years old, he was hit in the head by a flying object. “I was hit by a golf club while playing with a friend,” William recalled. The injury turned out to be so serious that he had to undergo an operation, as a result of which he left a scar on his forehead. The Prince loves the water and has even learned to surf, he loves high waves and often swims off the coast in Cornwall, St Andrews and Devon. While it’s hard to picture the future King of England on the board, William seems to enjoy gliding on the water. “No noise. You just breathe. You are in another world with the fishes,” he once said.

The prince has a unique feature that makes all his hobbies rather difficult – William is left-handed. However, he sees an advantage in his left-handedness and once even said: “Left-handed people have better brains because they have to constantly survive in a world created by right-handers and for right-handers.”

Although it is not confirmed, it seems that he passed this feature on to his eldest son, Prince George. The young prince, who is third in line to the throne, has more than once been seen favoring his left hand. According to a source familiar with the royal family, William is very pleased that his son has followed in his footsteps in this regard.

But in terms of charity, the Prince of Wales is following in the footsteps of his mother, Princess Diana – he is the patron of an adaptation center created to help the homeless. To understand the conditions faced by homeless people, he even once, like the hero of the book “The Prince and the Pauper”, spent the night on the street in central London. And then he helped launch a helpline for the homeless by personally taking a call from a teenager who was robbed while sleeping.
