U.S. refuses to release data from Prince Harry’s visa application form after confessing to drug use

The US government, citing privacy concerns, refused to make public information from Prince Harry’s US visa application, The Daily Mail reported on Monday.

The Department of Homeland Security has again denied a request to release facts about the Duke of Susse’s life under the Freedom of Information Act. Earlier, a US conservative think tank asked to investigate whether Prince Harry misled immigration authorities about his past drug use.

The decision to release the immigration records of Britain’s Prince Harry, who was granted a visa despite admitting in his memoirs that he used illegal substances, was urged by the Washington-based Heritage Foundation. The foundation’s lawyers are seeking the release of the records from the Department of Homeland Security.

Prince Harry and his wife, US citizen Meghan Markle, moved to the US in January 2020, renouncing their royal duties. Concerns have been circulating in the media over the past few months that the prince may have provided inaccurate information on his US entry papers. If this is confirmed, he may face expulsion from the country.

The first request in this regard was rejected. It stated that the fact that Harry was a “public figure” did not mean that he would “waive all rights to privacy.”

According to The Sun, the group that sent the request said the denial was a rebuttal and that the US administration was acting “outrageous.”

Prince Harry admitted to past drug use in his memoir. He wrote that he used cocaine several times, starting around the age of 17, to “feel” what it was like to “be different”. He also admitted to taking cannabis and mushrooms.

His confessions could be used to ban him from entering the United States.
