Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are about to be stripped of their titles: Mr. and Mrs. Sussex

The British Parliament could consider the “nuclear option” of stripping Harry and Meghan of their royal titles under a stunning bill to be proposed in the next few days.

According to the Daily Mail, Conservative MP Bob Seely is pushing forward legislation that could strip the couple of their status as Duke and Duchess, as the royal family becomes increasingly embroiled in a “racism” scandal fueled by the couple’s unofficial “mouthpiece”.

Seeley’s bill is officially called the “Bill to Amend the [Закон]depriving princes, in certain circumstances, of their British dignities and titles.” The original 1917 law allowed the Privy Council to make a report on British nobles suspected of aiding the enemy.

If neither the House of Commons nor the House of Lords objects within 40 days, the report will be presented to the monarch and the person concerned will lose his title.

Controversial couple Harry and Meghan are under growing pressure to break their silence over inflammatory claims made by writer Omid Scobie.

His new book, Endgame, sparked renewed controversy when the Dutch translation of the best-selling book named King Charles III and Kate Middleton as senior members of the royal family who allegedly speculated about the color of the then-unborn Prince Archie’s skin.

MP Seely said he was forced to act because of an attempt to use race to smear the royal family, which he described as “toxicly insidious”.

The MP told the Mail on Sunday that while sources close to the Sussexes have stressed that Harry and Meghan are not behind the claims made in Scobie’s book, “I suspect few people believe such denials.”

The politician, a member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, adds: “Of all damaging insults, ‘racism’ is the most poisonous and insidious, guaranteed to leave a mark of shame and impossible to prove if false. It is the universal insult of the modern age.”

Bob Seely is bidding to have his 1917 Amendment Bill placed on the House of Commons agenda next week. It would revive wartime powers by removing references to “enemies” and “the present war.” He agreed on the wording with the Cabinet of Ministers of Parliament, which oversees the bills.

Politicians usually stay out of royal disputes, but the inflammatory nature of the “racist” claims has drawn a rare level of condemnation, the Daily Mail said. Tom Tugendhat, the security minister, praised the “dignity” of the King and Princess of Wales and called the claims “rumours and fables”.

Harry and Meghan can no longer use the title “His and Her Royal Highness” under a 2020 deal in which they gave up official royal duties. A Mail on Sunday poll this year found that 51% of people think they should also be stripped of their Duke and Duchess titles.

The King is expected to consult with Prince William this week to discuss their response to the media storm after Buckingham Palace said it was “considering all options” in responding to the new scandal.

A royal source said: “They will no doubt meet to discuss how best to approach and respond to the fallout from the rather tedious Scobie case.”

The scandal surrounding royal “racism” first erupted more than two years ago, when the Sussexes told talk show host Oprah Winfrey that a member of the royal family had noticed the color of their son’s skin before he was born.

In the Dutch edition of Scobie’s book, King Charles and Kate are mentioned as participants in the story.

The Sussexes have not commented publicly, but a source close to Meghan told the Daily Telegraph that “Mr Scobie was not told about this by anyone in her circle.”

Meanwhile, Miss Markle’s ex-father Thomas intervened in the dispute, writes the Daily Mail. The 79-year-old, who fell out with his daughter after her friends published details of a letter she wrote to him, said: “Here we have another letter from my daughter which has somehow become public knowledge. Another one.” letter? Again? The fact that Harry and Meghan have not publicly distanced themselves from this strikes me as unusual.”
