Netanyahu underwent surgery at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv. A week earlier, the prime minister had been hospitalized due to dehydration, he implanted a device for monitoring the heart, the newspaper recalls. The hospital reported at around 4 am that the installation of the pacemaker was successful, while Netanyahu remains under observation in the cardiology department. It is expected that the 73-year-old politician will be discharged today, he feels well, the office of the prime minister also specified.
According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu was hospitalized a week ago complaining of dizziness after a July 14 trip to the Sea of Galilee. Then the politician said that he spent several hours in the sun without a hat and water. Doctors conducted a series of examinations and found that the prime minister’s heart was “perfectly normal”, but it was decided to use a device that monitors the heart and warns of irregularities in its work.
“A week ago they installed a surveillance device. This device beeped tonight and said I needed a pacemaker. I need to do it tonight. I feel great, but I obey my doctors,” Netanyahu said in a video message.
According to the Times of Israel, the Prime Minister’s duties during Netanyahu’s operation were performed by the country’s Minister of Justice, Yariv Levin.
