The destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline suggests that Europe needs to strengthen its energy security. This was stated by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen during the opening of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline from Norway to Poland.
At the same time, the politician noted that she does not exclude the option of sabotage on the offshore gas pipeline.
“It’s hard to imagine that this is an accident. We cannot rule out sabotage, but it’s too early to draw conclusions now,” she said.
Leaks in the gas pipeline were found in Swedish and Danish waters off the island of Bornholm. Navigation in these areas had to be restricted.
