Prigozhin’s media group “Patriot” may resume work – Kommersant

The media group of the founder of the private military company (PMC) “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin can resume work, despite the statements of its structures about the closure. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) with reference to people close to Yevgeny Prigozhin’s structures.

Andrey Krasnobaev, editor-in-chief of the Nevskiye Novosti publication, which is part of Patriot, also spoke about the possible resumption of work in a conversation with the FT. According to him, the publication has suspended work, but hopes to resume it. He also stated that the editors published a message on the social networks of Nevsky News about the closure of the publication “to maintain intrigue.”

The head of the Anti-Globalist Movement of Russia, Alexander Ionov, told the FT that Patriot had suspended work. “The group was put on hold, not shut down, because there are more pressing matters at the moment,” he said. He added that commercial buyers may be interested in the “very large patriotic audience” of the holding.

30 June became knownthat Yevgeny Prigozhin disbanded the Patriot media group. The publications RIA FAN, Nevskiye Novosti and Ekonomika Segodnya, which are part of the Patriot media group, have officially announced their closure.

June 29 Roskomnadzor blocked sites of publications included in the media group “Patriot”. Among the blocked portals are RIA FAN, Nevskiye Novosti, Ekonomika Segodnya, Politika Segodnya, Narodnye Novosti and dozens of other publications. The addresses of all portals are listed in the register of prohibited sites of the RKN. The reasons for the blocking were not specified. This happened against the backdrop of the Wagner PMC mutiny on June 23–24.
