Prigozhin turned to Roskomnadzor and the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the RTVI channel

The founder of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, wrote a statement to Roskomnadzor and to the Prosecutor General of Russia, Igor Krasnov, with a request to check the activities of RTVI for the dissemination of unreliable socially significant information. In the event of violations of the law, Yevgeny Prigozhin asked the departments to restrict access to unreliable materials and bring the perpetrators to justice. The statements were published by the press service of the founder of the PMC in Telegram channel.

In the published documents, Yevgeny Prigozhin asks Roskomnadzor and the Prosecutor General to check the RTVI material with the heading “Former Wagner PMC commander who fled to Norway spoke about the executions of fighters “in front of everyone”” for violations of Part 5 of Art. 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Slander combined with accusing a person of committing a grave or especially grave crime”), art. 207.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public dissemination of knowingly false socially significant information that entailed grave consequences”) and Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the RF Armed Forces”).

He told law enforcement agencies in Norway that he was the commander of the Wagner PMC unit and participated as part of a group in the Russian military operation in Ukraine. Yevgeny Prigozhin later confirmed that Andrei Medvedev was a PMC fighter, and declaredthat he was put on the wanted list “for attempted ill-treatment of prisoners”. In an interview, Mr. Medvedev, in particular, claims that the PMC treated new recruits “ruthlessly”, and the refuseniks were shot “in front of everyone.”

At the end of January, Evgeny Prigozhin asked State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin to introduce an article into the Criminal Code on discrediting former convicts taking part in hostilities in Ukraine. The founder of the PMC proposed to ban any criticism of the participants in the military operation, as well as the publication of information about their past offenses with a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years. In the State Duma declaredthat they will urgently consider the possibility of amending the Criminal Code.
