On May 5, Prigozhin announced that on May 10, the fighters of the Wagner PMC would leave Bakhmut: he explained this by a lack of shells and losses of personnel. Later, he confirmed his readiness to transfer positions to the Akhmat special forces units in response to the corresponding proposal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
On May 7, he stated that PMC “Wagner” promised give as many weapons and ammunition as needed to continue further operations in Artemovsk. According to him, Wagner was informed that he could act in the city as he saw fit.
