“Fontanka”: priest of the Apostolic Orthodox Church Grigory Mikhnov-Vaitenko was detained in St. Petersburg
A clergyman of the Apostolic Orthodox Church, Grigory Mikhnov-Vaitenko, was detained in St. Petersburg. His wife reported this on social networks, information confirms “Fontanka” with reference to sources.
According to the publication, the clergyman “was detained as he was leaving the house.” Possible reasons are not specified. Mikhnov-Vaitenko himself said on social media the day before that he was thinking about serving a memorial service near the Solovetsky Stone.
The St. Petersburg Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church said earlier on Saturday that it was receiving requests from journalists, in connection with which a short comment was given. A statement from the archdiocese states that “Grigory Mikhnov-Voitenko is not a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church.”
“We urge you to ignore any of his statements and calls in the public space,” the Russian Orthodox Church added.
