The Ministry of State Security of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) announced the prevention of an assassination attempt on President Vadim Krasnoselsky, reported in the press office of the ministry.

“The Ministry of State Security of the PMR informs about the prevention of the terrorist attack. The crime, on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine, was being prepared against a number of officials of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The suspects have been detained. They give confessions,” the statement said.

The ministry announced the initiation of criminal cases under articles on “preparation for a terrorist act” and “preparation for the murder of two or more persons, in connection with the performance of this person’s official activities, committed by a group of persons in a generally dangerous way.”

On February 23, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Ukrainian authorities were preparing to carry out an armed provocation against Pridnestrovie under the pretext of an offensive by Russian troops from the territory of the republic. The department said that for the “staged invasion” Ukrainian saboteurs will change into the uniform of the Russian military.

In mid-February, in response to a statement by Moldovan President Maia Sandu about Russia’s plans to destabilize the situation in the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the country had no plans “to destabilize the situation in Moldova.” “Unlike Western countries and Ukraine, we do not interfere in the internal affairs of Moldova and other countries of the world. Russia does not pose a threat to the security of the Republic of Moldova and stands for the development of mutually beneficial and equal bilateral cooperation,” the ministry stressed.
