January 12, President of the Association of Non-State Universities of Russia Vladimir Zernov statedthat in the new academic year the cost of paid education at universities will increase by 10–12%. He explained the rise in prices by an increase in spending on equipment against the backdrop of the departure of import suppliers from Russia, an increase in the cost of housing and communal services and compensation for salaries of specialist teachers.
According to RIA Novosti, in the new academic year, MIPT will increase tuition prices by an average of 20% compared to this academic year, Synergy – by an average of 5%. The RUDN University allowed prices to rise by 10–15%, but at the same time reported that prices could remain the same. The Russian Ministry of Education and Science communicates basic standards for the academic year to universities in April.
