Preventive evacuation has been announced for residents of 10 settlements in two districts of the Kurgan region due to worsening flood forecasts. In total, according to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, flooding and inundation are possible in more than 60 settlements of the Kurgan region.

According to a message in the Telegram channel of the government of the Kurgan region, in Pritobolny district a decision was made to completely evacuate the residents of six villages: Nizhneberezovo, Yalym, Mezhbornoe, Glyadyanskoye, Utyatskoye, Novaya Derevnya. Four more settlements are being evacuated to Zverinogolovsky district: Zverinogolovskoye, Proryvnoye, Ozernoye and Verkhnyaya Alabuga. Several temporary accommodation centers have been organized for evacuees at local schools.

On April 5, a high alert regime was introduced in the Kurgan region due to the risk of flooding of populated areas. Over the past 24 hours, the water level in the Tobol River got up by 43 cm, up to 290 cm. According to estimates of the Kurgan Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, during the flood the water can reach 9 m with the average long-term values ​​of 4.6 m. The water level in 2023 was 1.68 m.
