President of the National Association of Broadcasters Eduard Sagalaev died at the age of 77. Vitaly Ignatenko, director general of the Public Television of Russia, announced this. His statement leads TASS.
Yes, he died today. He died suddenly,” Mr. Ignatenko told the agency.
Eduard Sagalaev was born in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) in 1946. Since 1967, he worked in the local committee for radio broadcasting and television. Since 1973, Mr. Sagalaev moved to Moscow, where he received the position of instructor in the propaganda and agitation department of the Komsomol Central Committee.
From 1984 to 1988, he served as editor-in-chief of the youth editorial office of Central Television. Mr. Sagalaev took part in the creation of the programs “Vzglyad” and “12th Floor” as an author and presenter. He has been President of the National Association of Broadcasters for almost 30 years – since 1995.
Eduard Sagalaev was awarded the Russian orders “For Merit to the Fatherland” IV and III degrees. In 2018, Mr. Sagalaev was awarded the title of Honored Journalist of Russia.
