Predictions and a new appointment – Moskovskaya Pravda

New Year’s and New Year’s days are the time of expectations, forecasts. It has always been so. This time, among others, we were given a forecast by former President and Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

AT telegram channel he shared his predictions about what could happen in 2023:

“1. An increase in oil prices to $150 per barrel and gas prices to $5,000 per 1,000 cubic meters. m.

2. Britain’s return to the European Union.
3. The collapse of the European Union after the return of the UK and the abolition of the euro as the currency of the former EU.
4. The capture by Poland and Hungary of the western regions of the former Ukraine.
5. Creation of the Fourth Reich on the basis of Germany and the satellites that joined it (Poland, the Baltic countries, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, the Kyiv Republic, and other outcasts).
6. War between France and the Fourth Reich. Partition of Europe, including a new partition of Poland.
7. Separation of Northern Ireland from the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and accession to the Republic of Ireland.
8. American Civil War, separation of California and Texas into independent states. Creation of the union state of Texas and Mexico. Elon Musk’s subsequent victory in the US presidential election in some of the states assigned to the Republicans after the civil war. <…>”

There were many comments. Including Elon Musk’s response. Despite the more or less flattering prediction of his election as president of a part of the United States, he was critical of the forecast. He noted that awareness of the progress of artificial intelligence and sustainable energy is needed.

Speaking of progress and technology. Simultaneously with the promulgation of the forecast, a presidential decree was issued on the appointment of Dmitry Medvedev as the first deputy chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation. Its composition has been radically changed: new members have been introduced, 14 former high-ranking officials have been excluded.

Since the president himself is the chairman, this means that Dmitry Medvedev will be practically the head and coordinator of the entire military-industrial complex (DIC) – a giant scientific and industrial system.

In the USSR, the military-industrial complex was the basis of the industrial, scientific and technical potential of the country. It included 9 major ministries, the costs of the “defense” were exorbitant, they depleted the country, as the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev openly spoke about in 1990. At the same time, high-tech industries in the USSR were created precisely on the basis of the military-industrial complex. That is, the military-industrial complex was the locomotive leading the Soviet industry forward. Also, of course: in the Soviet military-industrial complex at all levels, from fitters and plant directors to researchers in research institutes, NGOs, design bureaus and design bureaus (scientific and production associations, special and experimental design bureaus), professionals worked. They, with the general technological backwardness of the USSR, created products (this is a working term) that were quite competitive, and in this area did not lag behind the main “potential enemy”.

The atomic bomb was created in the USA in 1945, in the USSR – in 1949. Intercontinental bomber in the USA in 1948, in the USSR – in 1955. The hydrogen bomb in the USA in 1952, in the USSR in 1953. Intercontinental ballistic missile in the USA in 1958, in the USSR – in 1957. Submarine-launched ballistic missiles in the USA in 1960, in the USSR in 1964. Intercontinental ballistic missiles on solid fuel in the USA in 1962, in the USSR – in 1966.

Developed in the 1960s and put into service in 1975, the P-36M silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile (according to NATO classification – “Satan”) is still on combat duty. The same is true for the Topol mobile system, which was put into service in 1985. The modern Su-57 fighter, launched into mass production in 2019, was developed in the USSR in the 1980s.

With the building of capitalism in Russia, the potential of the military-industrial complex (DIC) has drastically weakened. Reducing the volume of production and financing, conversion, that is, a transfer to the production of civilian products, a general crisis, the departure of specialists in search of better paid jobs, departure abroad, replacing them with personnel of the wrong level, sometimes just “acquaintances”, corruption, and so on Further. The end result is profanity.

In November 2019, embezzlement at Roscosmos resented President Putin at a meeting with the government: “It has been said a hundred times – work transparently, big money is allocated, the project is practically nationwide! No, they steal – hundreds of millions, hundreds of millions! It got to the point that in November 2021, the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome (under construction since 2007) was taken under special control by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In short, the reform of the Russian military-industrial complex is long overdue. It is assumed that with the arrival of Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev to the leadership, the Russian defense industry will rise to a high scientific, technical and production level.
