The Moscow football club Spartak reported on its website that Portuguese specialist Tomas Amaral, who previously worked as a senior scout at Benfica, has been appointed to the position of sporting director of the red-and-whites.
A statement from the Spartak press service notes that Amaral was also an assistant coach at the Portuguese Farense and Braga, as well as a scout at the Spanish Granada, Eibar and Valladolid.
It was Amaral who was behind Benfica’s successful acquisitions, which helped the club win trophies and perform well in the Champions League. The specialist has extensive connections in the football market of South America and Asia.
Amaral himself emphasized that he knows a little Russian and will continue to study it with the help of his Russian wife.
