Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, Portugal has not issued a single “golden visa” to the Russians who applied for it. About this with reference to the newspaper Publico informs TASS.
According to the newspaper, the Portuguese authorities have ceased to consider applications for the issuance of “golden” visas since the end of February. For six months, the Foreigners and Borders Service received ten requests from Russian citizens for a residence permit in exchange for investments. The Portuguese authorities rejected these requests, Publico notes.
Over the past 10 years, the republic has issued 430 “golden visas” to Russians, and the total investment in the country amounted to over 277 million euros.
In March it became known that Portugal introduce all sanctions adopted at the EU level against businessman Roman Abramovich, but will not prohibit him from entering the country, since he is its citizen. At the same time, the Portuguese prosecutor’s office was investigating the circumstances in which the businessman obtained citizenship.
