The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova predicted a peak in the incidence of influenza in Russia by the New Year. The head of the department stated this on the air of the Russia-24 TV channel. According to Popova, a sharp increase in the incidence may occur as a result of the neglect of preventive measures in preparation for the celebration of the New Year, including when visiting large shopping centers.
“If we comply well with all the requirements and protect our health, then we do not expect a high peak,” Popova said.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor said that in some regions of Russia the situation with the H1N1 influenza strain (swine flu – ed.) is characterized as tense.

In this regard, Anna Popova suggested that the Russians get vaccinated against the virus this week, otherwise it will be too late. The head of Rospotrebnadzor noted that the flu vaccine in Russia is available in sufficient quantities, and it protects against the severe course of the disease.
