To date, not a single case of coronavirus infection caused by a new type of omicron strain “Pyrola” has been registered in Russia. Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor and chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation, spoke about this on Friday, September 22.
The expert emphasized that at present there are no conditions for the widespread introduction of a mask regime in Russia.
However, Popova recalled on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, in individual institutions this can be done depending on the situation – for example, an employer has the opportunity to introduce a mask regime in his organization.
Earlier, general practitioner Alexander Matveev said that a new variation of the virus changed “targets”. At the same time, the mortality rate among those infected with COVID-19 has decreased, and the number of patients with severe pneumonia and thrombosis has also decreased.
Virologist Milanko Shekler urged not to panic due to the increase in cases of infection with the pyrola strain. According to the specialist, variations of the omicron strain are not very different from their progenitor and do not lead to serious health consequences.
