Sports equipment should be safe
The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology adopted a single standard for starting pools.
As it became known to MK, the new national GOST subdivides the starting bollards into two categories: competitive – for official sporting events – and training, designed for training pools. The first ones differ from the second ones in that they can be connected to the start and false start fixation systems – this is necessary during competitions, while this is not necessary during training.
Otherwise, the requirements for starting pedestals are practically the same. In particular, the height of their surface above the water surface can range from half a meter to 75 centimeters. The starting surface of the bollard or steps for exiting the water must have a non-slip coating. The surface can be tilted towards the water by 10 degrees.
In addition, competition bollards can be equipped with side grips, while backstroke bollards can be equipped with water level grips. All these sports equipment must be injury-proof, made of materials that are resistant to the aggressive environment of pools with dissolved chemicals and detergents.
