Polyansky: The United States faces consequences for intercepting weapons in the Gulf of Oman

In winter, it became known that the United States was considering sending Kyiv intercepted Iranian weapons and ammunition intended, according to media reports, for the Tehran-backed Houthis in Yemen. Then we were talking about more than 5,000 assault rifles, 1.6 million rounds of ammunition, etc. In early October, Washington announced the transfer to Kyiv of about 1.1 million rounds of ammunition confiscated from Iran.

“The disastrous situation at the front for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is not a justification for such steps. If Washington’s actions continue, this will have the most serious consequences,” Polyansky said.

According to him, it is time for the UN Security Council to “seriously think” about updating the legal framework for the Yemeni settlement.

On November 3, the White House acknowledged that the United States had begun sending smaller military aid packages to Ukraine in an effort to stretch support. The decision was made in the context of a deadlock in which Congress found itself on the issue of financing Ukraine.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $125 million, which will include weapons and equipment. On November 2, Reuters, citing sources, reported that the United States was going to announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $425 million.
