Voting ends in presidential elections in Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, at 20:00 local time (18:00 Moscow time), voting in the presidential elections ended. All polling stations are closed, the country’s Central Election Commission said. The CEC noted that some of the 39 polling stations formed abroad are still working.
Already by 11 a.m., the 33% turnout was overcome, and the elections were recognized held. Turnout was over 50% by noon.
Three hours before the closing of polling stations (at 17:00 local time), the turnout was 69.85% (13,459,677 voters) of those included in the voting lists.
There are four candidates running for the presidency. These are the current head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, senator Robakhon Makhmudova, the candidate from the environmental party Abdushukur Khamzaev, and the nominee from the People’s Democratic Party Ulugbek Inoyatov.
