In Washington, they tried to assess the consequences of an attempted rebellion in Russia for the counteroffensive of the EAF
The US President, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State and Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff called European colleagues on Saturday to reassure them against the backdrop of what is happening in Russia. Politico writes about this, citing sources in the White House.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, during telephone conversations, they tried to convey information to European colleagues about the need for calm, as well as confirm the need to maintain neutrality.
The newspaper also announced an assessment of the potential consequences of the rebellion in Russia for the situation in the NVO zone. According to Politico, on the evening of June 23 and in the morning of June 24, several lengthy interdepartmental meetings were held at once. At the same time, the US president had to postpone the move from the White House to his residence at Camp David.
According to the US authorities, events in Russia may give Kyiv an impetus to turn the tide of the “choking counter-offensive.” At the same time, the White House states that they have not yet formulated for themselves the final position on what happened and are not in a hurry to draw conclusions. One of the officials frankly admitted that he did not see how an attempted rebellion could harm the Russian side.
