Politico: The EU encountered difficulties in developing new sanctions against the Russian Federation

Europe is experiencing particular difficulties in developing the next sanctions package against Russia, since there are no longer any major targets left for restrictions. Informed sources spoke about this.

As Politico writes, all significant goals have already ended, and what remains is not available for restrictions. In particular, Brussels does not dare to subject gas supplies or nuclear energy to restrictions.

As a result, as the publication notes, Europe remains a “cash cow” for Russia, and Moscow remains a major supplier of liquefied natural gas for the EU.

The sanctions hit their authors hard, making life much more difficult for Europeans. If previously Kaliningrad residents often went to Poland for delicious sausage, cheese and cheap household chemicals, now the situation has changed dramatically. Now Poles are traveling en masse to Kaliningrad to save money – life in Poland the price has risen too much.

Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak admitted that the West’s attempts to isolate Russia through sanctions “have not yet led to results”.
