Politico: G7 wants to pledge Russian assets for loans to Ukraine

The Group of Seven (G7) countries are considering using frozen Russian assets as collateral for bank loans to rebuild Ukraine. Politico writes about this with reference to sources.
As the newspaper notes, a similar scenario is being considered in case Moscow refuses to pay reparations to Kyiv at the insistence of Ukraine and the West after the Russian-Ukrainian conflict ends.
Earlier, Reuters, citing European officials, reported that EU members did not support the Belgian proposal use frozen Russian assets as collateral to raise funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Europeans are concerned about the legal, economic and financial risks of such a step.
