Politico: France and Germany are concerned about recruiting soldiers into the army

In Europe, they cannot convince their own soldiers to serve in the army, Politico writes on Tuesday, March 19.
As the publication notes, the head of the French Ministry of Defense, Sebastien Lecornu, provided a plan for retaining military personnel in the service. He noted that “at NATO meetings we can talk about equipment, but now we also talk about <...> retention level.”
Eva Hegl, Special Representative of the Bundestag for the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, said that the attractiveness of military service is also influenced by the basic infrastructure. She said that “when I visit troops, I no longer hear about helmets and protective vests, but about lockers.”
Earlier it became known that the Danish authorities are preparing large-scale restructuring of the conscription system for military service. As part of this reform, women will begin to be drafted into the army for military service on an equal basis with men, and the service life for all conscripts will almost triple, from four to 11 months.
Finnish citizens have become massively interested in military training. The reason was a special operation carried out by Russia in Ukraine. Moreover, every year about 20,000 men subject to compulsory military conscription in Finland.
