The European Commission is about to launch an antitrust investigation against Microsoft related to its corporate messenger and video communication service Microsoft Teams. On Wednesday, January 25, wrote the publication Politico citing unnamed sources.
According to them, the investigation is related to the complaint, filed another corporate messenger is Slack back in 2020. Slack accused Microsoft of abusing its market dominance and forcing its own Teams service on its business customers. It was about the fact that Microsoft tied it to the Office 365 package and sells them as a single product. Now, according to Politico sources, the European Commission is going to speed up the study of this issue and is already preparing to send Microsoft a notice of claims – this will mean the start of a formal investigation.
The European Commission noted that they continue to study this complaint. Microsoft did not comment on the situation.
