Political scientists predicted the consequences of Zelensky’s rudeness at the NATO summit

Diplomatic rudeness has long become habitual for representatives of the Kyiv regime. On the eve and during the NATO summit in Vilnius, Zelensky did not restrain himself in anything, trying to achieve a miracle, that is, an invitation card to the alliance. The miracle did not happen, but many American and European newspapers wrote about the off-scale level of audacity of the Ukrainian authorities. Will the West endure another rudeness from Ukraine, or has the patience of partners already ended?

On the eve of the summit, Zelensky urged Ukraine to be officially invited to NATO, threatening not to come to Vilnius and thereby disrupt the agenda of the event. Finally agreeing to the visit, the Ukrainian president continued to make claims against the bloc’s leaders, calling NATO’s approach to admitting Ukraine a member “unprecedented and absurd”.

Zelensky was echoed by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, who announced the fundamentally different positions of Kyiv and Brussels regarding the conditions for the country’s entry into the bloc. He also demanded that Germany not interfere with the speedy admission of Ukraine to NATO.

At the summit, the executive director of the Anti-Corruption Action Center of Ukraine, Daria Kaleniuk, publicly embarrassed US presidential adviser Jake Sullivan by directly asking a provocative question. “What should I tell my son? That President Biden and NATO did not invite Ukraine to NATO because they are afraid of Russia?” Kaleniuk asked. Sullivan had to justify himself with words about Washington’s “incredible efforts” in helping Ukraine.

The rudeness and ingratitude of the Kyiv regime angered the head of the British military department, Ben Wallace, who demanded gratitude from Ukraine. In response, Zelensky decided to be bold right from the podium: “We can wake up in the morning and thank the minister. Let him write me how to thank me, and I will thank you.”

Will the West calmly tolerate such behavior of Kyiv and is it not already fraught with serious consequences? Experts told about this “MK”.

Expert of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Denis Denisov noted Wallace’s remark to Zelensky about gratitude. “It turns out that there is already a reaction from officials. Basically, they are to blame. The West itself allowed this to Zelensky and, in general, supports this form of communication,” the MK interlocutor said.

Zelensky as an information object is within certain limits, Denisov believes, and, in addition to the external factor, there is an internal dimension in his incorrect statements.

“Zelensky is, to a certain extent, a hostage of his public. He overheated the expectations of both Western partners and the domestic audience, making “cheers” about the counteroffensive, admission to the EU and NATO. In fact, when it comes to concrete results, it turns out that there are no results. A person is not responsible for his words,” the political scientist stressed.

Referring to statements by Ukrainian experts and officials, Denisov suggested that this situation could lead to a revolt against the Kyiv regime. “Those radical elements that are in sufficient numbers in Ukraine and are well armed can oppose the Ukrainian president,” Denisov notes. “This is one of the options for the development of events.”

According to him, the fact that the West is beginning to slowly pull Zelensky is a logical consequence of his rhetoric. “Will there be real consequences, expressed in limiting the supply of weapons, ammunition and financial injections? No, they will not do. Due to the fact that Ukraine is perceived as an instrument of confrontation with Russia. In the West, they will grimace, but they will demolish all these escapades of Zelensky, because the main goal is more important – confrontation and containment of the Russian Federation, ”concluded the expert.

Alexei Zudin, Senior Lecturer at MGIMO MFA of Russia believes that the more likely option will be when the West does not follow a public reaction.

“There are many other ways to bring Zelensky to his senses. He has money and a family. These are the points that can be pressed first of all. Of course, much, if not all, depends on how acceptable Zelensky will behave after the incident. If the West understands that this is an emotional breakdown, then nothing will happen. Or they will confine themselves to non-public suggestions and exhortations, ”the MK interlocutor noted.

According to the expert, statements of this kind will continue from the side of the Ukrainian president, then the question will arise about the adequacy of Zelensky to his position and the role he plays in Ukraine.
