Political scientist Minchenko called Medvedev “the main candidate” to succeed Putin

Political scientist Yevgeny Minchenko expressed the opinion that Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has significantly strengthened his position in 2022 and today is the “main candidate” to succeed Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On the eve of Medvedev, in his programmatic article, he outlined the goals of the military operation, including “the complete demilitarization of the Ukrainian state.” He also called traitors those who want their country to be defeated and said that new disarmament agreements are not needed now.

“So far, the base scenario is that Putin goes to the polls in 2024 and wins them. Of course, if we assume a different scenario, Medvedev is the number one successor candidate,” the expert said in interview NSN.

He noted that Putin is always looking at different options, but if we talk about strengthening politicians, then this year he sees the undoubted growth of Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as well as the explosive growth of Ramzan Kadyrov. Among other politicians whose influence has increased, he named Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko.

But he called Medvedev “one of the most trusted associates” of Vladimir Putin, who never left big politics. According to the expert, this is proved by the fact that it was Medvedev who acted as a communicator with China.

Minchenko also explained that in addition to writing posts on the Telegram channel, Medvedev does a lot of work, which is not advertised, but is very important. In particular, he noted that it is Medvedev who accompanies the reconfiguration of the military-industrial complex.

As for Medvedev’s New Year’s program text, according to Minchenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation personally participated in its preparation. The political scientist believes that Medvedev’s text is an increase in rates, since it states the goal of “regime change in Ukraine.”

“This is a strong raise of rates, it’s not that “we are preparing for peace, for negotiations,” Minchenko noted, adding that Medvedev also indicated that Russia would not enter into any negotiations with the West now.
