The court imposed a fine of 600 thousand rubles for political scientist Boris Kagarlitsky (included in the register of foreign agents in the Russian Federation) in the case of “justification of terrorism.”
A criminal case was opened after a post on a social network dedicated to the explosion on the Crimean Bridge in 2022. The defense stated that Kagarlitsky never justified terrorism, but only discussed the consequences of what happened from a political and economic point of view. The prosecution requested 5.5 years in prison for the political scientist.
After the verdict, Kagarlitsky was released in the courtroom.
In addition to the fine, the court banned Kagarlitsky from administering websites for two years.
