Political scientist Gevorgyan: Iran’s response to Israel’s attack on the consulate will be deliberate

An Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus, which killed one of the generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, will lead to the consolidation of Iranian society. This opinion was expressed by political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan in her column in “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.

She said that Iran’s possible response would certainly be deliberate and unhurried. At the same time, she expressed confidence that there would be no symmetrical attack on Israeli diplomatic missions.

“Tehran, unlike Tel Aviv, respects the Vienna Convention and the traditions of diplomacy and does not want to suffer reputational losses,” Gevorgyan wrote.

The political scientist also suggested that the IRGC leadership is currently dealing with its own counterintelligence, which was unable to ensure the secrecy of the meeting, which took place in the Iranian consulate building.

The orientalist drew attention to the quick reaction of the United States of America. The United States stated that it was not involved in the death of the IRGC generals, but Gevorgyan noted that their words cannot be trusted. At the same time, the orientalist added, there is no direct interaction between the countries, except on humanitarian issues.

“The globalists are using approximately the same strategy against Iran as against Russia; they are organizing several fronts, including internal ones. Iran’s opponents are betting on terrorist attacks, destabilizing society, and unrest,” the expert wrote.

According to Karine Gevorgyan, after the blow against the generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the authority of the IRGC will increase, including among young people.

“Israel is now working to consolidate Iranian society, although its goal was destabilization. Does this remind you of anything?” – she concluded.

Let us recall that the Israeli army attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1. The attack killed one senior military official.

After the attack, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said the authorities reserve the right of response.

Russian diplomats commented on the situation. The Russian Embassy in Iran in its Telegram channel condemned Israel’s actions and stated that a strike on the diplomatic mission could provoke further escalation in the Middle East, and also violates the foundations of international law.
