Political scientist Baklanov: Türkiye and Iran fear being drawn into the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Statements by the Presidents of Turkey and Iran Recep Erdogan and Ebrahim Raisi regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas do not imply military-political intervention in the situation. This statement was made by Andrey Baklanov, professor of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
According to him, Ankara and Tehran fear direct involvement in the conflict in the Middle East and are doing everything to avoid being drawn into a war.
“This is just rhetoric for now. Both countries are doing everything to avoid getting involved in these events. This is quite dangerous,” the expert said.
Baklanov stressed that in the event of military intervention, Turkey and Iran will face serious consequences. In this regard, they are now limited to only joint statements.
