The Polish consular agency closed in Smolensk, reported press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

The consulate stopped working after the government of the Russian Federation withdrew consent for its functioning.

The Polish representative office has been operating in Smolensk since April 10, 2012. Its main tasks were to take care of the Katyn cemetery complex and the site of the Tu-154 crash on April 10, 2010.

Order to close the consular agency of Poland in Smolensk on July 14 signed Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The current tasks of the consulate will now be fulfill directly the embassy of the Republic of Poland in Moscow.
