Poland is ready to carry out military training of 30,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This statement was made on Tuesday, May 23, by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blashak.
As the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense noted, most of the Ukrainian military trained within the framework of the EU mission trained in Poland. Blashak said that “this process is going fast.”
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said earlier that the EU has already trained 15,000 Ukrainian military personnel and is going to train the same number of Ukrainian soldiers by the end of 2023. On May 23, Borrell confirmed that a number of European states, including Poland, had already started training Ukrainian pilots. work on F-16 fighters.
Hero of Russia, Major General Sergei Lipovoy, pointed out the difficulties that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will face in obtaining the coveted Western fighters. The military reminded that in Ukraine there are no prepared airfields for Western-made fighters with a complex operation system, there are no engineering communications, and their creation according to the standards of the Western military-political bloc NATO requires at least 3 to 6 months of construction.
Lipovoy also doubted the possibility of training pilots to work on Western fighters on a tight schedule, suggesting that “NATO pilots in Ukrainian uniforms will be placed in the F-16”.
