Poland imposed sanctions against 365 citizens of Belarus, including parliamentarians, judges, prosecutors, as well as entrepreneurs associated with Russian capital. About it reported on the website of the Polish Ministry of the Interior.
The ministry explained the need for such a decision by “maintaining the draconian sentence in the case of Andrzej Poczobut”, as well as “repressions against opponents” of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and actions to discriminate against the Polish population.
Belarusians included in the list will be banned from entering the Schengen zone, their funds will be frozen, and their stay in Poland will be undesirable.
The list includes 159 parliamentarians, 76 judges, seven prosecutors, 32 employees of local administrations, and 28 representatives of law enforcement agencies. In addition, media representatives, athletes, cultural figures and others were also subject to restrictions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland clarifies that entrepreneurs “connected with Russian capital” were also included in the sanctions list. We are talking about 15 Russians and one Belarusian. Sanctions have also been imposed on 20 companies associated with Belarus and Russia.
Andrzej Poczobuta is a journalist for the Polish international channel Polonia. May 26 Supreme Court of Belarus left without satisfaction of his appeal complaint against the verdict of the Grodno Regional Court. In February, the court found him guilty of calling for actions aimed at harming the national security of Belarus and inciting hatred. He was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony.
