There is a high probability that Poland will turn into a maintenance center for American Abrams tanks and tanks from other Western states. Such a statement on Wednesday, June 14, was made by the Polish Ambassador to NATO, Tomasz Shatkovsky.
According to the diplomat, Poland and Germany are planning to conclude an agreement in the coming days on the establishment of a repair center for German-made Leopard tanks, which were used in combat operations in Ukraine.
It is assumed that the new enterprise will be located in the city of Gliwice in southern Poland.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that during the Russian special operation in Ukraine, “both Bradley and Leopard are on fire, as we expected.” When a projectile hits a combat vehicle, ammunition sets are triggered inside the tanks, as a result “everything is falling apart”.
According to the Russian leader, during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 160 tanks and 360 armored vehicles – only 25-30% of the volume of equipment that was supplied to the Ukrainian army from abroad.
