Peskov commented on Putin’s words about the “sanitary zone” in Ukraine

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on his words about the possible creation of a “sanitary zone” on the territory of Ukraine, saying that Russia would have to move the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a safe distance as they receive more long-range weapons.

“We are talking about the fact that shelling is being carried out from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime … In order to ensure security, as the Kiev regime acquires more complex and more long-range weapons, this military infrastructure will accordingly have to be moved to sanitary distance in order to ensure the safety of citizens,” he said.

On June 13, Putin, during a conversation with military commanders, allowed the creation of a “sanitary zone” on the territory of Ukraine in the event that shelling of the border regions of the Russian Federation continues. “If this continues, then we will apparently have to consider the issue – I say this very carefully – in order to create some kind of sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine at such a distance from which it would be impossible to get our territory,” he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev after that declaredthat the line of the demilitarized zone of Ukraine should pass along the borders of Lviv to ensure the security of Russia.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Western countries began to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and supply it with military equipment and weapons. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized such supplies. In May, it became known that the UK had handed over Storm Shadow long-range aviation cruise missiles to Ukraine.
