Poland announces plans to host nuclear weapons

Poland is ready to take part in the NATO program on the joint use of nuclear weapons (Nuclear Sharing) against the backdrop of the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) in Belarus. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic Mateusz Morawiecki.

“Due to the fact that Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, we are appealing to the entire NATO to take part in the Nuclear Sharing program,” the prime minister said (quote according to TASS).

Defense Ministers of Russia and Belarus Sergei Shoigu and Viktor Khrenin signed documents defining the procedure for keeping Russian nuclear weapons in a special storage facility on the territory of the republic at the end of May. Shoigu explained the need for such a step by the activity of NATO’s joint nuclear missions, including the training of pilots of non-nuclear countries of the alliance in the use of American nuclear bombs stored in Europe.

On June 27, President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko announced that most of the tactical nuclear weapons had already been delivered to Belarus. According to him, Russians and Belarusians will be engaged in his protection. Earlier, Lukashenka said that the idea of ​​deploying tactical nuclear weapons in the country was his and noted that he could coordinate the use of weapons with one call to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

June 16 Putin at the plenary session SPIEF declaredthat Russia does not need to use nuclear weapons, but this is theoretically permissible only if the territorial integrity and independence of the state are threatened. He noted that everyone is waiting for Russia to start pushing buttons, but “there is no such need.”
