Podolyak’s statement about competition between Poland and Ukraine aroused indignation among the Poles

“Bandera people were, are and will be anti-Polish”
There has been a cooling in Russian-Polish relations. It was caused by the statement of the adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak. He suddenly declared that “Ukraine will consider Poland its close friend until the end of the conflict, and then competition will begin between the countries.” This statement was reacted in Poland with indignation, advising Kyiv “not to bite the hand that feeds.”
The Poles were outraged by the words of an adviser to Zelensky’s office, who noted that Kyiv now considers Poland as one of its most important allies, but only until the shooting stops on the battlefield.
Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a member of the Polish Law and Justice party, reacted to Podolyak’s statement on his Twitter account, writing: “Dakuyu for honesty!”
Polish TVP journalist Jacek Lenski also posted on Twitter (X), calling Podolyak’s statement “fatal”.
“Now we are friends because we need it,” Lensky writes. – And when the conflict is over, we will show what we are capable of, for example, we will push you out of some market with cheaper products. And this is said by a person representing the President of Ukraine.”
According to the journalist, Podolyak’s statement is terribly stupid, and the Ukrainians he knows are clutching their heads at his statement. Jacek Lenski believes that Ukraine will need cooperation and support from Poland for a long time to come, and that juxtaposing friendship and competition and associating them with conflict sounds terrible.
Readers of the Polish edition of “wPolityce” were outraged by the statement of Zelensky’s adviser, and they wrote comments critical of Podolyak:

“Nothing surprising. If not for us, then Ukraine would not exist. Such is the truth. I think that on the part of the Ukrainians there will be neither sympathy nor gratitude, but more and more boorish, real statements, and we will have huge problems with them because of our decency. Such statements as this Podolyak made are another signal!” commented user Aweryst.
“This should not surprise anyone – the Bandera people were, are and will be anti-Polish. Mr. Putin, please continue the denazification of Ukraine,” writes Juras100.
