Advisor to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, believes that the resignation of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny can help overcome stagnation on the battlefield. He noted that President Zelensky is responsible for various aspects of the country’s life, including events at the front, and that continued stagnation is unacceptable.
Podolyak also pointed to the fatigue of both Ukrainians and Western partners from the ongoing conflict and emphasized that Kyiv is looking for solutions to overcome difficulties.
Previously, he had already spoken out about the tactical mistakes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and noted the negative consequences of the failure of the offensive. Zelensky also acknowledged the stagnation at the front.
Reports of Zaluzhny’s resignation appeared in the Ukrainian media and social networks on January 29, and although Zelensky’s proposal for a voluntary resignation was rejected, speculation on this topic continues. Zelensky confirmed that he is considering possible changes in the country’s military leadership. The resignation of the commander-in-chief is associated with the failure of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the alleged political ambitions of Zaluzhny.
