Journalist Hersh: West chastised Zelensky because of outrageous corruption in Ukraine
The West is dissatisfied with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky because of the high level of corruption in the country’s government. Seymour Hersh, a journalist from the USA, spoke about this on the air of the Going Underground program.
“American officials and generals are getting very angry with you because you pocket too much: you take more than the rest,” the Pulitzer Prize winner outlined the main idea that they want to convey to Zelensky.
“Corruption there is simply prohibitive,” Hersh is sure. “And the situation is not changing.”
According to him, the Americans gave the Ukrainian leader a list of 35 officials involved in corruption (10 of them were fired).
The European Commission, as you know, set a number of conditions for Ukraine to obtain the status of a candidate for EU membership. One of them is strengthening the fight against corruption.
