Members of an Islamist cell who planned to attack the yachts of Russian businessmen in Spain could face 8 to 14 years in prison, writes the Spanish newspaper La Razon.
The Spanish prosecutor’s office made a corresponding request.
The materials of the investigation indicate that the defendants were members of an Islamist cell in Barcelona, which was under the control of Daesh (Islamic State, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation).
The attacks were planned for the period from 2016 to 2018, their goals were to damage Russian interests in Spain.
In total, the group included 6 people, they planned to attack three yachts belonging to Russian businessmen. These vessels moored at various times between 2016 and 2018 at the Port of Barcelona. The accused will appear in court on Monday.
