Nutritionists believe that taking vitamins and minerals useful for the body from food alone will not work. It is necessary to supplement the diet with nutrients, that is, vitamins and minerals that will allow you to maintain health and youth for many years.

In Moscow, GUM hosted an educational event dedicated to the system of proper and nutritious nutrition. According to nutritionist Katerina Padolka, almost everyone experiences “hidden hunger” or “hidden hunger”, so additional intake of nutrients must be present in our daily life.

– When choosing nutrients, I would advise you to conduct laboratory diagnostics, that is, take tests to determine the individual characteristics of the body, says Katerina Padolka. – The most deficient for Muscovites is vitamin D, including because we all live in a strip with an insufficient amount of sun. Magnesium is also deficient in humans. It occurs in almost 85% of my patients. Often people have a deficiency of B vitamins, macrocytic anemia, especially if we are under stress, we have problems with the digestive tract.

However, a person can find out about the lack of some vitamins in himself. For example, a pinch test can be done to assess vitamin C deficiency. To do this, grab the skin fold with the index and thumbs of both hands. The distance between the fingers of the left and right hands should be about 2 – 3 mm. After that, move the parts of the skin folds in the opposite direction. If a strong reddening appears at this place, then this indicates excessive fragility of the capillaries, and hence a deficiency of vitamin C.

“If this happens, you need to additionally take such basic nutrients as omega-3, vitamin D and magnesium, but always in individually selected dosages,” says Katerina Padolka. – A person may have an idea that he eats quite well. But if he has any manifestations, for example, the skin is flaky, seizures regularly appear in the corners of the mouth, hair falls out, this is evidence that the body needs a correction.

In the near future, nutritionists are planning to hold another series of educational events, talking about which foods are still worth leaning on to make up for the deficiency of vitamins in the body, and which ones to ignore.
