The North Atlantic cyclone will bring to Central Russia today, March 26, 25-50% of precipitation from the entire monthly norm, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said. Sunday could be the wettest day in 75 years, he said.
“Sunday in Central Russia will be the rainiest in meteorological history on March 26. The reason for this will be the North Atlantic cyclone, which will bring down on the capital region from 10 to 19 millimeters of rain, or 1-2 buckets of rainwater per square meter. Especially it will pour like a bucket from 12 to 15 hours,” said Mr. Tishkovets (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Evgeny Tishkovets noted that in the entire history of the existence of the main Moscow weather station VDNKh, since 1948, it was so rainy on March 26 only once – in 1951. Then 11.8 mm of precipitation spilled onto the capital region. The Phobos specialist said that the removal of air masses occurs from the south-west, where over the past day in some places up to 3/4 of the precipitation limit set for March has fallen.
According to hydrometeorological center, today, March 26, it will be 8-10°C cloudy and rainy in Moscow. Yesterday, March 25, a yellow level of weather danger was announced in the capital and the Moscow region due to fog.
