Petersburg athlete Liliya Khuzina won gold at the World Taekwondo Championship. This is the first medal of the highest standard for the Russian team at these competitions.

Khuzina performed in the weight category up to 62 kilograms. In the final, the champion defeated Caroline Santos from Brazil.

Petersburger brought her team the first gold. Also on June 3, Kadyrbech Daurov took bronze, and before that, Polina Khan and Christina Adebayo took third places.

Competitions are held from May 29 to June 4 in Baku. At the championship, Russian athletes perform in a neutral status.
